Flood Sensors

Flood Alarms

If you live in a flood plain, you should consider getting flood sensors for your home. Flood sensors can be installed at certain levels a few inches off your floors that can notify you and authorities when there’s a flood in your home. Flood sensors can be installed that will alert proper authorities and even send an alert to your email or to your cell phone to tell you that water levels in your home are too high. These flood sensors are good things to have, if your home is easily floodable or if you live in a flood plain. If you are alerted early enough to flooding in your home, you may be able to start removing water early to save important electronics and memorabilia in your home.

Flood Alarm

Flood alarms are important especially when you have little children at home. Flood alarms can alert you to an emergency at your home when children may not be able to. You should make sure you have a policy in your home for your kids on cooking or using any heat-generating appliances when no adults are home. You should lock up anything in your home that you don’t want your children to have access to, like guns, medicines, and liquor. You should also make sure someone in your home has your work numbers and cell phone numbers, so they can call you in case there is an emergency or if the flood sensors go off. You should also make sure your children follow the same route home from school every day and check in with you immediately when they arrive home. Everyone in your family should know how to answer the phone and the door when they are alone in your house. Everyone in your family should know to ask for identification from anyone who knocks at the door.

Flood Detector

You also should establish regular check-in routines for your stay-at-home family members while you’re away. They should check in with you or you should check in with them at regular times. Everybody in your home should know that they aren’t to go into the house if they return home to find the door open, or a window broken, or another sign that an intruder might be inside. You should know your children’s schedules and they should know yours. You should make sure elderly members of your family have an emergency call button in their homes for contacting help if they fall or can’t get to a phone for some reason.
