Code Alarm
When you’re installing your Code Alarm console and door sensors, you should take the time to do the job right. The Code Alarm console must connect to your home’s power supply and phone lines, so you’ll want to make sure that you locate it near a phone jack and electrical outlet. You should try to avoid plugging your console into the same power line that feeds your television or radio. When you’re determining where each of your Code Alarm components should be located, you’re ready to install the system. You should have a complete set of Code Alarm instructions for installing each element of your system.
When you’re installing your Code Alarm wireless console, you’ll want to first install the backup batteries on your console unit. You should plug the Code Alarm console into an electrical outlet. This should be an outlet that’s not on that you can turn on and off with a wall switch, or you’ll be turning your alarm off and on every time you flip the switch. You should extend your console antenna all the way, and use the phone cord that came with your console to connect the console to a telephone jack. Turn your console switch to On, Run, Install, or the setting recommended in your instruction manual. You should check to see if you have to set the tone to pulse or touchtone and set it appropriately.

Your Code Alarm console installation may vary somewhat depending on which type of Code Alarm console you purchased. Also, when you’re installing your Code Alarm window and door sensors, you’ll want to take a look to make sure you have all the parts you need. Your window and door sensors from Code Alarm should include a back cover that will be attached to the wall using screws and drywall anchors. It will also include the sensor that will slide onto the back cover and the sensor’s magnetic switch and magnet. The Code Alarm sensor’s magnetic switch is connected to the sensor by a wire. You mount the sensor on the wall and attach the magnetic switch to the door or window frame. You then should attach the magnet to the door or window itself, directly in line with the magnetic switch.

When your Code Alarm sensor is activated, a circuit is set up in the magnetic field between the two switches. If the door or window is opened, the circuit is interrupted and an alarm will sound.
